Caleb (and flat Stanley) visit Ocala

Kim, Caleb (and flat Stanley) were able to take a few days off to visit Ocala. Jim and I were so glad to have them and to show them around our “little town”. It takes about six hours to get to Ocala from Augusta so we arrived about 3:00pm, not enough time to go to Wild Waters or Silver Springs, so we took Caleb to the Batting Cage. We thought he would enjoy it even though the balls are thrown at between 40 mph and 75 mph. Well, you should have seen Caleb hit those balls!! He was hitting 14 out of 20 balls in both the 40 mph cage and the 45 mph cage. I knew he was a good little baseball player but I never believed he could hit those fast balls, but he sure did. Needless to say, the Batting Cage was one of his favorite places.

Caleb brought along a “friend” named flat Stanley. Flat Stanley is a project done by Elementary Schools where the students take flat Stanley along with them on vacations or even send him to other parts of the United States or the World so he can get his picture taken and sent back to the student’s Elementary School. Well, I had never heard of flat Stanley so I was surprised when he was readily recognized in several places at Silver Springs. In fact the guy doing all the reptile demonstrations came over and said, “Oh, I see we have flat Stanley with us today”, then brought over a snake to take a picture with him. After the show he asked us if we would like to get flat Stanley’s picture taken with a baby alligator. We told him that we would and he took us to the baby alligator cage and brought one out, just for flat Stanley. The captain of the Glass Bottom Boat also told everybody on the boat, “Oh, there is flat Stanley on board today”. Flat Stanley was a good traveler.

Caleb really had a good time at Wild Waters. He was so brave going on all the slides, some of which are really high and fast. I think Wild Waters was his favorite place, next to the Batting Cage. He is really a good little swimmer and has no fear of the water.

Caleb also enjoyed bowling and he was quite good (89). Kim was very good (150).

Caleb bowling...form was not his strong point.

We all had a great time in Ocala and Jim and I were so glad Kim and Caleb were able to make it.
