Caleb w/Skate Board

Caleb got his first Skate Board yesterday and he really learned a lot in one day. He said he learned just by watching what they did on TV. Pretty smart.

Meet Sara Grace

Sara Grace Abercrombie arrived a little early on Monday, July 6, 2009, but everyone was ready for her. She was 7 lbs and 19 1/2 inches long. She is so beautiful. She didn't want to put on the cap but when she saw how attractive it looked on her she loved it. She has already mastered the "nap" so she is well on her way to a happy life.

Grandma holding Sara. See how excited Sara is to meet Grandma!!

Baby and momma are resting happily.

Here is a picture of Sara and Daddy. David stayed at the hospital with Dawn and Sara the whole time. (See how excited Sara is to be with Daddy)

This is a picture of the "LoJack" attached to Sara's ankle. This will cause alarms to go off and lock down the whole hospital if I took her off the floor. Sooooo, our little walk outside was out.

I am so happy to have Sara in our family and we have many years ahead to love her. I thank God for this little girl.

4th of July at Silver Springs

Well, since I am in Ocala for the 4th I went out to Silver Springs to see what they had going on. The reason I am in Ocala for the 4th is because I have Jury Duty on the 6th. That is what happens when you are a Florida resident. I lived in Georgia for over 30 years and never got called for Jury Duty. Oh well, I will do my civic duty on Monday.

Silver Springs will light up Marion County with another spectacular celebration on July 4th . They have live music with a band named "Live Bait" beginning at 3:00 p.m. Live Bait will be performing Jimmy Buffet's greatest hits. Also, the 60's pop band "The Lovin Spoonful" will play. I remember the 60's but I don't remember this band. Then they have award winning country music staple Terri Clark (Terri Clark is probably the only person at this concert that doesn't remember the 60's).

You may notice I did not say how good they were....that is because I did not stay for the concert. IT WAS TOO HOT! I took a couple boat rides on the beautiful Silver River, bought me some Carmel popcorn and went back to my nice cool home at 3 Kings. They will have fireworks tonight, which I may go back to see. But I will show you some pictures I took while I was at Silver Springs today.

This is one of the famous Glass Bottom Boats they have at Silver Springs.

Beautiful River....people, not so much.

...speaking of not beautiful...Giraffes are not really that good looking...and they STINK. They know that they stink and even have a sign explaining why they stink.

Well, Happy 4th of July

Caleb at Hunting Island

Kim, Donald and Caleb spent about 9 days camping at Hunting Island, South Carolina. I know they had a great time but I am sure Caleb had the most fun. Caleb loves to spend time in the water and he looks like a "surfer dude" even at six years old. I just wanted to add a couple pictures of Caleb at the beach because the grandkids grow so fast that if you blink your eyes they have changed again. I want to be sure to document his "surfer dude" stage.

No surfer is complete without his "boogie Board"

This is Caleb with a baby shark.....(I have no idea where he got it or what he did with it.)

Cool shades!!

At the end of the day all boys need sleep.

Crystal Graduates from Augusta State University

Saturday, 9 May, was a big day. That was the day Crystal graduated from Augusta State University with a Bachelor Degree in Education. She has worked hard and we are all so proud of her. Kim, Donald, Caleb, Jimmy and I attended the graduation in the James Brown Arena in Augusta, Georgia. After the ceremony we all went out to eat a Macaroni Grill. There is nothing better than spending some quality time with family. Please enjoy some pictures of Crystal at her college graduation.
Getting her diploma. She will continue on to get her Master's Degree in the fall.

Yes, the left side of her hair is purple. If anybody can pull off purple hair, it is Crystal. I actually liked it.

Caleb (and flat Stanley) visit Ocala

Kim, Caleb (and flat Stanley) were able to take a few days off to visit Ocala. Jim and I were so glad to have them and to show them around our “little town”. It takes about six hours to get to Ocala from Augusta so we arrived about 3:00pm, not enough time to go to Wild Waters or Silver Springs, so we took Caleb to the Batting Cage. We thought he would enjoy it even though the balls are thrown at between 40 mph and 75 mph. Well, you should have seen Caleb hit those balls!! He was hitting 14 out of 20 balls in both the 40 mph cage and the 45 mph cage. I knew he was a good little baseball player but I never believed he could hit those fast balls, but he sure did. Needless to say, the Batting Cage was one of his favorite places.

Taking a swing.....
...and a miss this time.

Caleb brought along a “friend” named flat Stanley. Flat Stanley is a project done by Elementary Schools where the students take flat Stanley along with them on vacations or even send him to other parts of the United States or the World so he can get his picture taken and sent back to the student’s Elementary School. Well, I had never heard of flat Stanley so I was surprised when he was readily recognized in several places at Silver Springs. In fact the guy doing all the reptile demonstrations came over and said, “Oh, I see we have flat Stanley with us today”, then brought over a snake to take a picture with him. After the show he asked us if we would like to get flat Stanley’s picture taken with a baby alligator. We told him that we would and he took us to the baby alligator cage and brought one out, just for flat Stanley. The captain of the Glass Bottom Boat also told everybody on the boat, “Oh, there is flat Stanley on board today”. Flat Stanley was a good traveler.

Caleb really had a good time at Wild Waters. He was so brave going on all the slides, some of which are really high and fast. I think Wild Waters was his favorite place, next to the Batting Cage. He is really a good little swimmer and has no fear of the water.

Caleb coming out of the "Mini Monster Slide", boy was that fun!!

Caleb also enjoyed bowling and he was quite good (89). Kim was very good (150).

Caleb bowling...form was not his strong point.

We all had a great time in Ocala and Jim and I were so glad Kim and Caleb were able to make it.
